Founded in 2009, built holding by holding.
History
Odegard Group was founded in Switzerland in 2009 as a privately held holding company. It remains privately held today.
The group was not assembled quickly. It was built one holding at a time, and each company was added because it could be owned and built for the long term: a durable business, in a real market, that would be worth more in twenty years than on the day it joined.
Genève Holdings, the group's Geneva-rooted investment and stewardship firm, came first among the holdings. In 2015, VAUDERIVE was founded under Genève Holdings as the group's Swiss luxury publishing house, and it has grown into an international editorial group.
The group's publishing interests widened from there. Tribune Publications, a publisher of local news titles, and Mastheadly, a publisher of digital magazines across technology, business, culture, and lifestyle, made media one of the group's principal activities.
Beyond publishing, the group holds energy interests in Norwegian oil and gas, and Matra Steel, a carbon steel sourcing and trading company. The portfolio is deliberately varied: what the holdings share is not an industry, but an owner.
The group does not publish a timetable of acquisitions. It acquires and builds when a business fits the standard, and it holds what it owns.
